1. Application / Description
For each offshore-wind park a transformer platform is required. This platform is the centre point for all 33 kV medium voltage cables from each wind turbine. This transformer station transfers the 33 kV power up to 150 kV higher voltage. The high voltage can be transmitted with lower power loss over longer distances by using sea cables towards the mainland. The task for Vetter was to perform the engineering in order to pull the sea cable laid by the vessel from the sea ground up to the 40 m higher transformer platform. More than 4 tons of cable weight had to be lifted onto the confined platform by taking high security factors and permissible bending radius of about 4000 mm into consideration. Special roller arches and diverting mechanism in connection with 2 special winches made this particular cable installa-tion possible.
